Six Easy Meditations to Help You Heal and Cope while Co-Parenting During and After Divorce

Mantras for Conscious Co-Parenting

As a divorce coach, mediator, and lawyer with more than 20 years of experience, I know that co-parenting during a high-conflict divorce can feel completely impossible. What used to feel within your control is now spiraling like a tornado in all directions.

Bring some calm to the storm by stopping, taking a breath, and reciting one or more of my mantras for co-parenting.

Mantras for Conscious Co-Parenting

1) "I am a good parent."

2) "I only control my reaction."

3) "I am becoming stronger everyday."

4) "I accept that my co-parent is not perfect."

5) "I am worthy of respect."

6) "Tomorrow is a new day."

How to Practice Mantras for Conscious Co-Parenting

To practice, simple set a timer for 1-3 minutes, close your eyes, and repeat your chosen mantra for the duration of the practice. You can choose to say the mantra out loud or to repeat it to yourself.

Benefits of Mantras for Conscious Co-Parenting

This form of meditation will not only help you navigate tough moments, but will influence everyone around you for the better.

When you are able to regulate your nervous system during times of high-stress, your children will be able to co-regulate. This is a hard time for them too, and I’m confident you’re doing a great job.

Here’s to all the dad’s(and step-dad’s) out there who are willing to evolve and integrate a new way of being with your spouse or co-parent. Beginning in the womb, your kids were taking in every aspect of your marriage into their subconscious. You and your spouse have been programming them for how they should be with their partner and how you split with your partner. If you have a toxic relationship, your children are very likely to follow in your footsteps. But, you are open to breaking generational cycles for both you and your ex-spouse and learning how to parent your kids differently. You know that the single most effective thing you can do for your child is to display respect, compassion, empathy, and support for the other parent. Even when that other parent is behaving like a dick, it IS possible. And it is changing the future of your children. Watch and see. Happy Dad’s Day, to all those who father and love like a father. You are so important to your kids. -T
